Moving is hectic for everyone involved. Many things require your attention before you can finally say goodbye to the property. Let’s face it; we all want to fast forward in settling down to our new home. However, when you’re in the middle of moving, you have to get yourself in the game. So, why not make it easier on yourself and everyone? The following is a moving checklist you may want to use:
Eight Weeks Before Moving
Get a floor plan of your new home. After that, plan accordingly. Get a better layout of your furniture and where you want the couch, end tables, tv, and every large item set in the home. The last thing you want to happen is scrambling through heaps of furniture and boxes when you’re at your new house.
Don’t forget the groceries. We all do our grocery once a week, but it’s safe to say that you might have accumulated a lot of leftovers. Use those canned goods in the pantry, so you don’t have to move them! That’s a fraction that you don’t have to move!
Sell, donate or throw away the items you don’t need at home. Getting rid of a chunk in the home will help you move quickly. After all, a garage sale could be fun!
By this time, you want to choose a moving company you can trust. With the help of movers, they can bring the peace of mind that families need. If you’re not interested in carrying large items, you can be sure that a moving company will do it for you.
Notify your utility companies about the move. It’s good to prepare yourself for a move. Why? Well, transferring utilities can avoid unnecessary costs.
Schedule time off of work. Let your boss know that you will be busy at the time of the move. You want to be present throughout the whole experience whether that’s to sign additional paperwork for your new home or simply helping out with the move.
Set aside your essential things. These are clothing, toothbrush, makeup, pans, pots, and everything else in between. The last thing you want to happen is going through boxes just to locate a simple item like toothpaste! Do yourself a favor, and just put them away where you can easily find them.
